Dr. Basant Singh Ji

Daas has just seen a picture of Dr. Basant Singh Ji, on Tapoban.org. Dr. Basant Singh was a companion of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh, after reading about Dr. Sahibs jeevan several times over, it is hard not to want to be like these Gurmukhs who devoted their lives to Naam.

We should not idolise any Gurmukhs, but instead we should try and mould our lives just lke theirs and take examples from their lives and apply them to ours.

It is amazing how Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji noticed straight away that Dr. Basant Singh was a spiritual friend from previous lives, that is why they both felt so much love for each other. So much so that Dr. Basant Singh fainted when he heard Bhai Randhir Singhs name in the Ardaas. This is what we call true love.

Bandginama

Daas was recommended the book 'Bandginama' by another Gursikh along time ago, although Daas never really bothered to read it as Daas does not really like reading much, reading means taking your mind away from Naam, because we have to concentrate on something else. Anyhow, the Gursikh that recommended it is also a Chardikala Naam Abhiyaasee, so Daas thought he'de check the book out.

The book is written by Bhai Raghbir Singh 'Bir', Bhai Sahibs thoughts were compiled into this book, these thoughts were flashed to him in his midnight silent meditation. Daas has to say, this book is stunning. It just talks about Naam and how it brings us peace. It is very simple to read and one does not have to concentrate too much to take it in. Daas has not read it all (not even the first chapter yet), but, Daas recommends it highly to all.

From what Daas has read he talks about peace and love and calmness, this is what meditation is all about and if you look at the contents page you will note that the chapters are about Sehaj, Dasam Duaar etc...This is what Sikhi really is. Sikhi is a positive energy - Daas will write more about 'energy' at a later date.

Bismaadh State - Naam Ras

Daas was doing Vichaar with another Gurmukh Piaaraa about Bismaadh State and Naam Ras.

When Naam Ras is at its extreme in the body fortress of a Gurmukh, the body goes into a state of Bismaadh. This is when the body 'shuts down' and we experience just pure Naam Ras. We can see this state in RehNsvaaees - some Gurmukhs go into this state. We used the example of Bhai Rama Singh Ji and Bhai Jeevan Singh Ji, in RehNsvaaees it used to look as though they were asleep because their heads were pointed down and their body forward as they are asleep in the Keertan; however they used to stay saabhdhaan in the Keertan. When we see other Gurmukhs in the state of Bismaadh it looks like they are sleeping, in fact physically there is probably no difference between sleeping, but inside the Naam Ras is drenching you.

How do we go into the state of Bismaadh? Bismaadh is when the Anand from Naam Ras is too much and the body cannot handle it, so the body automatically slips into this state.

A Gurmukh can go into Bimaadhee any time s/he wishes to do so. But, because we live a Gristhee Jeevan we experience it usually when we do long sittings in meditation (RehNsvaaees). Sometimes, in this state, our soul can actually leave our body through the Dasam Duaar.
