2 Types of Pride

There are two types of pride. Maan – Divine pride and Ego. When Gursikhs talk about Sikhi or Naam to inspire others, they do so out of divine pride because they want everyone else to Jap Naam aswell. However, there is always a lot of nindaks around that don’t hesitate to speak ill of other Gursikhs ‘ Such and such a Gursikh goes around talking about Sikhi, he thinks he knows more than everyone else etc etc etc’. We should not have this type of attitude towards any Gursikh, we should instead support them.

If we all had this much Hankaar, then we could easily say that Gurmukhs such as Bhai Randhir Singh and Bhai Rama Singh Ji had a lot of Hankaar because they wrote about their experiences. Not true. They did so out of their own divine pride, they were proud of the blessing of Naam and wanted everyone else to be infatuated with the same thing. They wanted everyone else to experience the same Ras they were experiencing. Some people also say Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Bhai Fauja Singh and other Gurmukhs were full of ego because they spoke their mind, these sort of Gurmukhs are one of a kind and outspoken, always spoke out against injustice and were Abhiyaasee Singhs.

Other people, such as Daas go around talking about their experiences through sheer Ego. These people get happy after hearing their own vadiaaee. These people may have got to a certain stage in their Spiritual life, but fail to advance further without the blessings of the Guru.

We should try and keep this Khazaana of Naam Gupt. We try not to reveal how much Kamaaee we have, keep it as hidden away as possible. However, having said this, your Kamaaee does not go unnoticed by everyday folks. Once you start Japping Naam people will realise a difference in you even if you don’t, as your Aura will be such that peoples souls automatically feel attracted to yours, they do not want to leave your presence. Just being in a Gursikhs presence and not talking to them gives Daas great pleasure.

People who Jap Naam live in Santokh (contentment), when we feel the Ras of Naam then we do not think about anything else. We can sustain ourselves just on Naam. We don’t even need food.
Daas mentioned earlier that we should keep our Kamaaee Gupt, this does not mean that we should not talk about Naam and not inspire other people to Jap it. If we talk about it to other Gursikhs, then that is the best thing.
